2.Twelfth Man

 


There  was  only one vacancy for a teacher in the  school. My dad  also  applied for the  post. He  was  one among the  twelve  called  for the interview. Among the twelve, my dad  was the only  person outside  the  community that was  running the school. Till  then,  all  posts were  being filled  by  candidates  from their own community. Dad  had  little  hope  but was  not ready  to accept defeat without a fight. Naturally, he  was  the  last person to be interviewed. He  could  answer  all the  questions  very well . Finally, the  Chairman of the  interview board asked.

So, you have  come here  as  the twelfth  man, right?

Dad replied : Yes  , but  I am not Judas.

When he  got the appointment  order  next day  delivered by a special  messenger, he was  really surprised.

6. Drunkard father and son.

  We were all familiar with the alcoholic. He was not worried about his family. He did not value the tears of his wife and children. Years passed. His son grew up. The natives rated him only as a    decent boy. A good son of a shameless drinking father. The son tried many drugs to stop his father's alcoholism. All failed. It's just that the father's hatred for his son increased. One day the   father was drinking in the bar. "Bring me a bottle too" he heard a familiar voice from the opposite bench. He looked back. 8.Cash Bill

  .  Our father, a poor farmer, rarely visited the nearby town. But this time, he had to go to get a few things done. It took him a while to complete his tasks, and soon it was well past lunchtime. Quite hungry, he went to a hotel and ate. He helped himself to rice a second and third time, eating to his heart’s content, thinking that hunger is the best curry for lunch.   When the waiter finally brought the bill, he was shocked.
